Mendut Temple Jogjakarta

Jogja also many large temples must be visited as a tourist destination, among which the temple is situated in the village Mendut.Candi Mendut, Mungkid district, Magelang regency, Central Java, a few kilometers from the temple of Borobudur, one of the Buddhist temples built the year 824 AD by King sense of Sailendra dynasty. In the Mendut there are 3 (three) big statue.

Mendut Temple founded during the reign of King Indra of Sailendra dynasty. In the inscription Karangtengah the bertarikh 824 AD, mentioned that the king Indra has built a shrine called Veluvana which means bamboo forests. By a Dutch archeologist named J.G. de Casparis, this word is associated with Mendut.
